Beauty Favourites of 2012

Saw heaps and heaps of Youtube videos on this so I thought I'd do a blog post on it, since I haven't really been posting all that much. :c

Anyhoo, I don't have that many but here are some things that I really really liked in 2012.

L-R: Lancome Star Bronzer (sample size) | Clinique Blush in smoldering plum (sample size) | Clinique sample quad (beach plum, strawberry fudge, like mink duo on the bottom row | Coral Colours Eyepencil Kohl in Midnight | Rimmel professional eyebrow pencil | tonymoly water jelly tint | garnier bb cream (oil-free)

 Lancome Star Bronzer:
I got this near the beginning of 2012 as a sample from a purchase my mum got. And as you can see, I've been using it religiously for the whole year and I have hit pan. It goes on pigmented, but not overly pigmented, so it's easy to blend away and it looks super natural. It has some gold glitter/shimmer in it, but it's hardly noticeable on the skin, especially if you blend it away.

Clinique Blush in smouldering plum
My mum bought stuff from Clinique and I got this from a gift sample thing. The lady was like, 'this might be a bit too dark for you but oh well', and then I went home and tried it, it's not at all ! On my skintone, it looks really nice and natural. Doesn't even look plum - it turns out more warm and a dark coral tone on my skin. It's not very pigmented but when I finish this, I'll be trying out other stuff hehe.

 Clinique sample quad
I've used this the whole year for nearly all my eyeball looks hahaha. But I haven't touched the purple/plum shadow because I'm not into that stuff ahaha. However, I've hit pan on the other three. The top right is a duochrome shadow, it looks pink, but when layered on the skin, it comes out as a really warm gold colour. It's gorgeous and I've used this for my inner corners and tearduct. The bottom left shade is a basic champagne colour which I started off using as a browbone highlight but then I realised you can use this as a face highlighter and I've been using it so much I'm nearly out of it. :C The last one is the brown one which I've hit pan on near the end of December because I've never really used it. But I started using it as smudged liner instead. (:

 Tonymoly Water Jelly Tint
I think I've mentioned this heaps but I really like this. I don't ever use it on my cheeks cos I never really like using blush anyways. But this looks super natural on the lips and I really like it ! When I'm out of it, I'll have to purchase it again or look for one that similar.

Garnier Oil-free BB Cream in Light
I recently got this around the end of November when it was on sale. I have the other one that Garnier makes, and comparing them, this one has heaps more coverage and is more matte. Really enjoying this.

 Coral Colours Eyepencil in Midnight
I don't know where you can get this, but I got this free with the purchase of a magazine. I expected it to be super cheap and crappy and it'll smudge everywhere, but this is actually really amazing. It doesn't smudge at all! It has a smudger foam thing on the end of it, and you have to work sort of fast if you're going to smudge it out because it dries quite quick. Nevertheless, really like this. Only downside, I wish it would sharpen itself, because I'm super lazy. :P

Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown
Initially bought this near the beginning of last year, and I didn't know how to use it. Since then after watching heaps of Youtube videos, I learnt how to use it, and it's really good. (:

L-R: Lash & Brow Comb | small crease brush | ecotools eye shadow brush | realTechniques blush brush | realTechniques expert face brush
 Lash & Brow Comb
I got this along with several other brushes for free in this small kit that came with a purchase in the Duty free shop when I was getting back from New Zealand. I didn't really want the kit, but I was like, worth a shot. And it seriously surprised me. I didn't know something free could be that good ! All the brushes were actually decent quality. And I've been using this brush for after mascara and brows, it's super handy !

Small crease Brush
Like I said earlier, I got a kit from the duty-free store, and this was another brush that came with the kit. It's super small so it's perfect for the crease and inner corner and I just never expected it to be so soft.

Ecotools Eyeshadow Brush
I got this from my bestie (THANK YOU ♥) in a beauty exchange box because she knew I liked to QUOTE: "do a lot of stuff with my eyeballs". And this is really good for just anything really. Super soft and has a tapered end so I can do a whole eyelook with shadow just using this brush.

realTechniques Blush Brush
I got this online, because it's CRAZY EXPENSIVE IN AUSTRALIA. THIS IS F*CKING $40 OVER HERE (excuse the language). I got this online for $9.99! Anyways, I heard from reviews this is really good for powder, not blush because it's way too big, and that's what I use it for. It's really soft, and when I first got it I couldn't stop feeling it hehe. Anyways, really recommend this, and the whole collection.

realTechniques Expert Face Brush
I got this as well after reading really positive reviews on it. I didn't really use it at all because I don't wear foundation  except for formal and then when I started using it with my concealer and BB cream, it makes the biggest difference ever. It buffs it in so naturally you can't really tell you're wearing anything. Highly recommend this!

That's all I have for beauty favourites. I hope you enjoyed reading this. Honestly, I get a lot of my makeup as gifts or sample sizes from other purchases from my mum, so yeah, I'm a real makeupp cheapie.

Anyways, thanks for reading.

Update: Yr 10 Formal

Omg, have not done an official update in such a long long time. I guess I'll upload some pictures from my formal night, because I really want to post something, sorry if you didn't want your photo to be in here xo

Basically, got ready took a long long time, and my table was completely messy. I laid out all my makeup and everything to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Here are some photos, that people keep demanding hehe. Not going to type much, I'll just let the photos do the talking. Well basically, everyone got an alternate dish, these were mine. Let's start with the food there.

Entree - greek salad

Main - risotti?

Dessert - apple something lol.
And then here are people shots.

With my man ;) I'm just kidding. x

Here is the venue.

And a photobooth picture.

That's it!

Enjoy.

Update: The Body Shop Haul.

Yes it's me again.

Today, after tennis training, walked to Westfield and grabbed takeaway lunch. It was goooood~

Chicken with caesar salad
Anyhoo, mum had to go to city and my sister had to ask her to get some stuff for her from the Body Shop, and since my sister and I couldn't go (homework -grr), wrote a list of what we wanted to buy. So I ended up stocking up on a lotta stuff, hehe.

L-R: tea tree blotting sheets, born lippy strawberry stick lipbalm, pink grapefruit body butter
The Body Shop Tea Tree Blotting Sheets
Can't live without these, and just ran out of them so got THREE, hehe.

The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Stick Lipbalm
I own the other one, in the pot form, and didn't know they had come out with these. I've already opened it, and it smells exactly like the one I have and it's super duper good, it's even better than the pot one. GRAB THIS.

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Butter
I had one that was in the scent Moringa, and to be honest, it's sorta strong and was a bit too moisturising. Got one for normal skin and this one is so so good, smells divine.

Anyhoo, also got some deodorants from Coles, can't be bothered to take photos of those because they're not special, thanks for reading!

5 Beauty Essentials For School

Thought I'd do a different post today, going to talk about cosmetics. The products mentioned in this aren't necessarily what I use everyday for school, but what I would use for school when I want to wear make up to school. (:

L-R, clockwise: tonymoly water jelly tint, maybelline dream matte powder, garnier bb cream, maxfactor masterpiece cream eyeshadow in pearl beige, rimmel extra wow lash mascara
1. Lip stains or Tints: Tony Moly Water Jelly Tint
Multi-use products really help shorten your time when getting ready, because everyone values sleep, hehe. Just make sure you wash your fingers after using it because you don't want to look like you murdered someone. So you can use this on both lips and cheeks and you can reapply during the day, plus it looks super natural. The one I have here is from a Korean brand and was a cheap one that I found in a cute boutique. It goes on smoothly and apparently has the same shade as the Benefit LipTint as well and it smells amazing. Try it out if you can find it!

2. Powder: Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
This is just to set everything in place since it will be a long day at school, so it's important to make sure your hard work is going to last. If you have dry skin, I guess you can skip this step. Opt for a sheer powder so it looks super natural. The powder I have is really good! Loads of positive reviews online, so try it out!

3. BB cream: Garnier BB Cream
Instead of foundation, I suggest something like this or tinted moisturiser so it lets your skin breathe more. If you need more coverage invest in a concealer because you don't want to cake up. BB cream is all the craze now since they hydrate, prime and give coverage as well. The one I have now is alright, it's probably nicer for people with drier skin types. (:

4. Cream eyeshadows: Maxfactor Masterpiece Cream Eyeshadow
Well, I always skip this step but using a cream shadow will shorten your time in getting ready as well since it's a multipurpose product. I use this as a highlighter in the inner tearducts, and also to highlight the high points of my face; bridge of your nose, cheekbones and cupids bow. Really makes a difference! If you don't want to use cream, maybe go for a champayne powder eyeshadow. They both work well. The one I have here is really shimmery, I usually use powder but this is waterproof and super long lasting. (:

5. Mascara: Rimmel Extra WOW Lash Mascara
One of my staples. Really opens your eyes. If you have short lashes like me, I suggest using an eyelash curler beforehand. It also helps if you use a waterproof formula, but I honestly find that super hard to remove, but the results are super nice. The one I'm using now is alright, smudges on my outer corners so just waiting to finish this one up before purchasing another. I recommend Maybelline mascaras because they're cheaper and better. (:

I hope this helped people! (: It felt nice to blog about more girly subjects I suppose, so maybe I'll post more of these! (:

Update: Unhealthy Lunch Feast & Purchased Items

Hello,

Had chinese school today, and teacher couldn't make it because her car broke down so didn't have a teacher, woohoo. So didn't do any work whatsoever, and I just sat outside with classmates and talked. Told them lotsa stories, hehehehe. They're all younger than me so it was nice to hear really childish things :3.

Anyhoo, was starving at lunch, no idea what brought that on, but got a lotta stuff. Bought sushi and ricepaper rolls then also had some cheesecake and mocha. To be honest, the mocha was super bitter so might get the iced one next time...if there's a next time. ;)

Hehehehehe, such a fulfilling lunch. ♥ Regrets? None. MUAHAHAHAH. I'm so guilty. T.T
Anyhoo, bought couple of things that I needed, facial wipes and this gel spot thing. PRICELINE OPENED AGAIN, SO GLAD.

L-R: simple cleansing facial wipes ; neutrogena 2-in-1 fight & fade spot gel
Will be having more posts up soon, just took a lotta photos for them, since the lighting is soooooo nice as seen in the above photo. Another reason why I love summer - amazing lighting for photos. ♥

Shall speak soon; have tutoring now, will blog it soon.

Update: 2 Reasons Why Today was Pretty Awesome Too

Hahahaa, my titles these days.

1. I got free beauty samples from a good friend, Alisa. She got them from the Face Shop, super happy, but I probably will go to the city someday, just to scab more off. ;P

2. Went to a little talk at lunch at school, which is for the university UTS. Basically just a run-down on what they offer and such. It was really interesting, and I'm considering to go there. Their scores don't need to be that high, HOWEVER, I'm really interested in getting into their International Studies, BUT it needs at least an ATAR of 97.00, so I might not get into that, but it sounds super awesome!

Got some free brochures/booklets.
Anyways, really need to continue with my coaching homework and make it in time for bed!

Toodles,
Michelle x

Update: Tiny Tower && Nails

Rimmel London 610 BLUE MY MIND && maybelline mini colorama 3 TUTTI FRUITTI
So not much has happened since I last updated. Yesterday ( Monday ) watched the last 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy - the Return of the King, on my computer because the disk wasn't working. It was such a good movie. Sad, but good. (:

Haven't been doing much lately, playing a lotta Tiny Tower. That little app is as addictive as ever! The first picture was taken weeks ago. I've also been cheating a lot on that. But the first time I did it, I didn't know it would screw up your game if you changed the time back. So I searched online and found out that you had to stock every level FIRST, then close it, change your date/time and open it again, and it would be working normally. (:

So little mishap there. ;P Also yesterday, painted my nails since the beginning of the year, with a new colour Julia ( www.littlemisscrayons.wordpress.com ) had given to me as a gift. I can't remember if it was a birthday or Christmas gift. Or neither. HAHA. :P Ah well, the colour is kinda like a deep indigo/violet and looks really nice. (:

But then TODAY, I got bored of it, and just added this really sheer glittery kinda nail polish on top. And NOW it looks really nice! It's like a duo chrome of purple and blue with rainbow glitter. Makes me really happy when I look at them. (:

I know the first picture is edited, so the colours are off, but it was for your eyecandy. ;)

Well, not much to say. Really need to finish off writing my Japanese notes now. (:

Thanks for reading!

"The features you call ugly, others call beauty."

I don't know if anyone has actually said this before, but this is what I came up with. (: Haven't been bothered to find quotes, LOL.

Anyways, just wanted to point out everyone is beautiful in their own ways, and even though you may not see it, others will.

For example, I know some people might find their long fingers are horrible and look strange. Okay, strange scenario, but can't think of another one at the moment, lol. Anyways, I reckon long fingers are cute, but just saying, some people reckon it doesn't look cute...

Okay, that didn't come out so nicely, but you know what I mean. (:

Of course this quote wouldn't apply to everything, but I think it helps people to view things more positively, and not worry about little things like that. I reckon, people shouldn't worry too much, and just enjoy what they have. (:

Sorry this was so short, but oh wells.

Thanks for reading and hoped this helped. Have a great one!

Love,
Michelle ♥

Update: STOP SPENDING.

Okay, haven't updated in a while, I admit. I have been quite busy, but I will be getting back with more posts...no promises though. ♥

So starting from Saturday, I went to Chinese school. This was actually my first lesson since this term since I couldn't go last week, since I had a badminton competition with Julia ( www.littlemisscrayons.wordpress.com ). ♥

Chinese school was alright. Changed classrooms, nothing new. Went shopping afterwards though. And yes, I really should stop buying crap. I'm going to TRY and stop buying stuff for about 2 months and see how I go. Besides food though. Love that stuff. ♥

Since I'm a member in Priceline, which is freeeeee to join, I got some vouchers in the mail. You get one every term if you get over 100 points. (: So I went to use some of my vouchers. (:

Ran out of makeup remover so went and got more. And there was a voucher for this hairspray, but even if I don't use it much, I still got it. (: I also went to Chemist Warehouse, since it's much much much cheaper there, and got lip balm, moisturiser and these nail stickers that were on half price.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser for combination skin
Simple Eye Make-up remover
NIVEA Essential Care Lipbalm
Sally Hansen SALON effects Real Nail Polish Strips in '350 Misbehaved'
So today, had tennis training in the morning which was pretty good. (: The weather was alright, I kinda miss summer, but enjoying the sunshine right now. ♥ Love the sun. Wish I could hug it, but then I would burn to ashes. ♥

Went to a restaurant for lunch, but didn't take photos, sorry. Also got a pair of black over the knee socks. Ohmygod, love them so much. ♥ Going to get a lotta wear outta those babies. ♥

Loreal PARIS Elnett Satin Hairspray Normal Strength
Over the Knee HI socks. ♥
There's this history assignment on which you have to interview a migrant woman, and I actually interviewed my mum. We do this in pairs, but we happened to choose my mum. No idea why. Lol. So filmed it and everything and have to edit it soon. Also have a crapload of homework - maths, japanese, science, and english work to do. Not to mention tutoring and Chinese school homework. Oh the life of a student. HAHA, that makes me imagine what I would say when I'm older, HAHA.

Anyhoo, that was kinda random at the end, but thanks for reading! Shall definitely make an effort to post more. ♥

Love,
Michelle x

Update: Photo Booths & Another Beauty Haul

Today, stayed at home for a while to do my maths notes, before heading out with my parents for lunch. (:

We went to the mall to get a few things at Coles and I picked up this really cheap beauty pack from Rimmel. (: At Kmart, got a nail polish remover since I ran out a couple of days ago.

Sally Hansen Acetone-Free Polish Remover
Rimmel London Volume Flash Mascara x10
Rimmel London Kajal Kohl Eyepencil in Jet Black
At the mall, there was a stall of free samples of the new Nescafe 3 in 1 coffee and they had a photo booth and you could go for free. (: Took a cup, and queued up, and went with my mum. Got some free sachets as well. They were really good. ♥ The photos were really good as well. (: Two strips were printed out. Gave one to my mum. ♥

School is starting soon. One more day tomorrow, and that's it. ): So sad, the holidays passed by so quickly. Felt like yesterday, I was sitting in the coach at New Zealand. I miss that place. </3

Anyhoo, not much to add, but thanks for reading!

Update: Beauty & Hair Haul

Today, went out to go shopping and I bought a whole crapload of stuff from 'Chemist Warehouse' which is a really cute, cheap chemist. (:

I bought a new Olay cleanser, witch hazel and moisturiser. (: I actually got the Listerine from Woolworths.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for sensitive skin;
OLAY pore minimizing CLEANSER + SCRUB
T.N. Dickinson's All Natural Witch Hazel
LISTERINE Whitening Enamel Protection
Went to another hair salon and bought some rounded ceramic brushes for my hair. Got two - one for long hair and one for the fringe. So freaking expensive, but still got them. ♥

TIGIPRO Large Round Brush and BRUSHWORX White Pearl

This one was the most expensive but this one's professional salon.

Took off their packaging.
Had handmade noodles for lunch from this really good restaurant.

That's basically it for today, need to finish off my maths homework, which is taking me forever. Then need to start reading the book '1984'. (:

Update: Haku Drawing & Packing

Yesterday night, drew another sketch of Haku from the anime series, Naruto, that my sister is so in love with.

Why do I always draw on lined paper? LOL.
Anyhoo, today, just chilled at home. Didn't wake up until around 10P.M! HAHA, went out for lunch at some Cantonese BBQ store downtown, and also bought blotting sheets. Funny story actually, I left my old ones in my school skirt along with my lipbalm and forgot to take them out, and they got quite a ride. Had to chuck out the old sheets and the lip balm, that's another story.

I reckon the best Cantonese dish out there, would be 'Sweet and Sour Pork' which are such a favourite! I really love that stuff. But if you make it too soggy, it's like Weetbix - it's gross. HAHA. Why am I talking about food....? Must be hungry...

Okay, such a random post and my ranting on about strange things, but I'm going out to dinner tonight, and we're leaving now. Just a short update. (:

Oh, I'm leaving for New Zealand soon, I'm so excited for that! Need to start packing and realise now that I have a lot of crap to carry since it's going to be cold.

That's it, thanks for reading!

Love,
Michelle ♥ ( Sorry, had to have at least one heart in my post. ;) )

Update: Easter Bunnies and HUNGER GAMES

I had tennis training in the morning, which was really fun. The weather was pretty hot, but I personally was enjoying the heat. ♥

Wore my bracelets I got from Jayjays along with these Karma ties I got from Equip some time ago.

Have a new favourite song, 'Solo' by Jason Chen which is so good! ♥

Finally got the last two Hunger Games books which I haven't read yet. Shall bring it to New Zealand and read it on the plane or something. (: I hope I don't lose them.

And some beauty products since I ran out of cotton pads and my favourite eyeliner. Got it in blue this time though.

Swisspers cosmetic squares, and organic cotton pads. Also Rimmel Soft Kajal Pencil in 'Denim Blue'. ♥
Today wasn't really my day since my internet was down for about half the day. And then my favourite pair of shorts broke. Then my iPod broke. And then the Mac Store wasn't open so I can't fix it. Sigh, oh well. At least I still have my Hunger Game books for New Zealand. :D

I'll update again soon! ♥

Thanks for reading,

Update: Back From School Camp

I'm finally back from Yr 10 School Camp which was one of the best camps I've had so far. It was fun, but tiring since we had to do a lot of physically training; if you know what I mean. ;) Anyhoo, it was really hard to take photos of stuff since I couldn't bring my camera along with me to the places where we trained so I'll make a brief update on it. (:

Basically we travelled from school for about 45 minutes max. on these really comfy coaches. Partnered with Julia ( www.littlemisscrayons.wordpress.com ) and we both just chilled and listened to music. When we got there, we were debriefed and placed into our own cabins, whom we both went with two other awesome chicks. In our classes, we each went to out afternoon activities and for my class, we went to archery and abseiling first. Both were really enjoyable.

That night we partied til around 10.30P.M when the teachers got kinda mad. There was this hilarious moment when we thought a teacher opened the door and everyone just scattered and laid on the ground as if that would TOTALLY hide us. But turned out it was just another fellow school mate. LOVED EVERYONE'S REACTIONS. We ate so many Pringle's with salsa sauce. Couldn't really sleep that night; kept waking up in the middle of the night.

Second day, I was a complete zombie from lack of sleep. Had breakfast where the teachers had the privilege of getting bacons and eggs, while we only had toast and other cold stuff. The weather wasn't looking too good, really cloudy. Later in the morning it did actually start raining. In the morning, I had sport science and sport initiatives. Sport science was where we had all these fitness tests to see where our levels were for personal reasons. For the record, I didn't do that well... Sport initiatives was, well, a lecture on the HSC...

Had lunch which I can't remember what it was, and then headed to afternoon activity which was kayaking. I really love kayaking. But first would have to be archery. Can do that all day long. ♥ Thank god the rain had stopped by then, else we'll be kayaking wet. My arms were going to fall off after but it was still worth it. Plus, the scenery was beautiful. Wish I could've taken my camera but with the cloud cover, it wouldn't have done it justice.

Took a shower after then, and went to dinner which was so good! Lasagne with salad as a side. ♥ Had night activities which was games in a really large court. Never had so much fun before! ♥

When we got back to the cabin, there were cockroaches everywhere. Over the shelf and there was one on my pillow. Ew. After using an entire can of cockroach spray or whatever that stuff is, we still had heaps. So we packed and moved cabins. I think it was from all the food we had the night before. But in the other cabin, there was still an amount of cockroaches. But still managed to sleep at least.

The last activity before we left after lunch was the rope course which was around 10 metres up where you were attached to a harness and it was an obstacle course on ropes. It was quite daunting, but when we got get down with the flying fox, it was so freaking fun! ♥

After lunch, got back to school and I still had Matrix coaching afterwards which was really tiring. My eyes were drooping by half way. Got home, had a good shower and got a really nice long sleep.

Today ( Saturday ) had Chinese school in the morning which turns out to be the last lesson for this term. I also bought some groceries which were lip balm, QV Cream, hair ties and deodorant.

Had maths tutoring after wards which was slightly tedious. And I'm completely dead right now since I'm blogging so late. But have a lot of tests next week and need to study for them tomorrow, so might not have time to blog again tomorrow. Also have tennis training tomorrow morning so better sleep earlier. Lol!

Anyhoo, shall blog again soon I hope.

Thanks for reading,

Update: The Art of Spending Money

This morning, wrote up some maths notes, and got a bit bored, so I ended up drawing one of my sister's favourite anime characters; Haku from the Naruto series. Here's how it looks:

It was on lined paper lol.
Had to get more travel supplies, so got cotton buds. And since I was out of my make up remover, got a bottle of that as well. I've used about 3 bottles of those already, so good! ♥

Swisspers cotton tips, and Simple Kind to Eyes Make up Remover.
My mum bought some things from Clinique, so I tagged along and got myself sample of their cleanser so I can take some for camp. And a gift set came with the purchases, and I got this. (: You might recognise the bag from this post: http://ilikestarryskies.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/update-whats-in-my-beauty-bag.html except the lining's purple. (:

Decided to make the brownies next week, since I'll be going to camp soon, and might not finish them in time. Also bought some hot cross buns today, best things ever!!  ♥    Besides sausage rolls of course. ;P

Anyhoo, have school tomorrow, and sport; cycling. Shall be interesting. ;D Have an orthodontist appointment on Tuesday, might be getting braces soon, yay.

That's about it for today!

Thanks for reading,

Update: Lucky Dip Magazine?

Yesterday, had Chinese school in the morning which was cool. I went to go grab some stuff afterwards.

Went to Sportsgirl, which happened to be having a 15 % off discount everything in store, and bought an emery board since my other one broke. ):

DOLLY magazine is having a time where you don't know what's with the mag inside. They come in a silver plastic bag, and you can't see what's in it, and basically they're calling it a 'lucky dip'. Heh. I bought one, and this is what I mean by silver:

What you can get. (:

What I got with the mag; a poster book, and an eyeliner.
Won't be reading the mag, and instead will bring it to camp, so I can read it before I go to bed. How fun. ;P

Anyhoo, also got bobby pins since I ran out.

Pricey, but the best ones you can get! <3
Bought some Eclipse breathmints as well, since I know I'll be eating heaps at camp. ;D

Might make brownies today, shall have a separate post on that soon. Also might post about what I'm bringing to camp, and for the record, I haven't packed yet, lol.
